An out-of-this-world night of public art, singing and more!

From September 20 to 29, the Exchange District was alight under the glow of moonGARDEN, a special presentation in partnership with Culture Days Manitoba. Local artist Anna Binta Diallo created Spectra, a beautiful shadow work that lit up under the night sky inside the spheres. Inspired by the cosmos, Spectra featured humans, animals, and celestial bodies entwined in a kaleidoscope of colors with sound design by Tyler Fitzmaurice.

To kick off the start of Nuit Blanche, Winnipeg's ECCO Singers "flew us to the moon" with a special sing-along in honour of the intergalactic artwork, featuring beloved tunes like "Drops of Jupiter," "Bad Moon Rising," and "Harvest Moon."

Across the city, Winnipeg lit up with music for Nuit Blanche! Canzona, a professional Baroque choir, led audiences in an evening of song and drink at the MTA's International Centre for Innovation on the Esplanade Riel Footbridge at The Forks.

Not too far away at Johnston Terminal, The Riel Gentlemen's Choir presented Hoof and Molar, a street opera illuminating the ecological grandeur of the plains bison. Glowing bison "danced" to an original composition by Jesse Krause.

There's plenty more to come in our year of City of Songbringing Winnipeggers together with music. Stay tuned for what else is in store!
